Working at Broken Art Tattoo, Swan hopes to break the record on Friday the 13th, just a few days away. He’s drawn up four designs to choose from, which must be 1.25 x 3 inches long, and in two colours to be counted into the 802 tattoos he needs to do to break the current record. Of course, those tattoos don’t come free, but the price of the tattoo should never be a selling point towards those who are about to ink their skin for life. Swan is using the price almost as a selling point at the minute, boasting a cheap $20 charge for a design, then $10 for every additional tattoo at the time. Should people really care about the price of a tattoo that’ll be on them for life? Of course, some do, so it’s only good business to advertise the tattoo’s price, right? So where’s the problem here? Swan’s morals. Speaking about the event, he said the following: "We really need the hours in the middle of the night to be filled. So, calling all bartenders and restaurant workers who get off at 2 a.m. ... go directly to Broken Art (with every drunk patron you can bring) and get your $20 dollar record breaking tattoo!!!" Okay, this could very well be a joke- one that’s actually funny enough- but should a tattoo artist be making such jokes to a public not fully aware of tattooing? Swan’s tactics to get people in the doors are, as some have been saying, questionable. Right now, those tactics aren’t doing what they intend, and Swan only has 500 people signed up for the event with only a few days to go. However, if you don’t mind getting what you paid for, for an admittedly pretty sweet design, you can sign up by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
