Chest & Sternum Piercing

As with any surface pierce, this is an effort that may or may not be a gamble – your piercist will need to assess whether you have sufficient skin that will take and hold a piercing, how likely the placed bar is to migrate, and how permanent or temporary the result might be. Also, as with any surface pierce, it’s not particularly easy to do and you will absolutely need to be in the hands of an expert for such a project.

Angles and ways to be pierced in this area are multiple, and often dependent on your body shape and availability of flexible skin; there’s pierced collar bones, deep chest pierces, sternum pierces, piercings across the top and under the bottom of the pectorals, even pierces on the side of female cleavages.

Warnings out of the way, chest piercings are absolutely beautiful when done properly; an extra cheeky glint amidst the cleavage of a girl or a unique, metal embellishment of one of the strongest and most aesthetic parts of the human body (male or female, arguably!) New ideas and takes on ways to pierce this part of the body keep spilling forth, too; verticals, horizontals, multiple pierces and even frontwards corset piercings can be found, as well as some very rare play pierces across the chest, which lend their wearer a look of alien armour.

All this, and they have a very much established reputation as some of the most painful piercings it’s possible to get; you’ll have to prepare yourself when you’re getting it done, and you’ll leave with some stories of pain afterwards. Deep chest piercing – currently favoured more by male body modification enthusiasts for reasons that become obvious when you see pictures – actually penetrate the full length of skin along the pectorals, and there’s competition going for the widest bore of needle that can be used to pierce straight away!

Conclusively – chest piercings are many in their types and incarnations. They can be simple, small or large, and they still have yet to reach the ‘garden variety’ of acceptance and normalcy that many other piercings now have. We’ll just emphasize that the curious find the best piercist they know before they consider them!
